Huntersville Education Campus – Intro

Huntersville Education Campus

With your support, Aspire Carolinas is introducing a much-needed community resource to the Huntersville area, dedicated to supporting children with Asperger’s/autism, learning differences, and high school students who want to pursue careers as highly qualified tradespeople. Currently, we have successfully completed two of the three schools that will be part of the campus.

The Halton School stands as a testament to our commitment, specifically tailored to meet the educational needs of 2nd to 8th graders with Asperger’s and traits associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Additionally, Aspire Trade High School, a vocational charter high school serving grades 9-12, embodies our dedication to providing diverse educational opportunities to all students.

The final piece of our vision is the upcoming K-12 School for Students with Learning Differences (LD). This addition completes our campus, designed to be a peaceful park-like setting with three state-of-the-art and beautifully designed schools on the property. Your support is instrumental in making this vision a reality, creating a positive impact on the lives of the students and the community.

The Halton School

An extraordinary school designed for 3-8th graders with Asperger’s and traits associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In response to the limited education options in the greater Charlotte region for average- to above-average intelligence children with Asperger’s/Autism Spectrum Disorder and other specific learning differences, Aspire Carolinas Foundation opened The Halton School.

Surrounded by a group of focused and caring professionals, students and their families experience what The Huntersville Education Village is all about: creating an environment specifically tailored to their students’ educational needs. An environment that empowers them to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Located at 11414 Beatties Ford Road, The Halton School is housed in a 6,000 square foot renovated home. This historic home has a peaceful ambiance and many large, beautiful rooms that are ideal classrooms. Entering through the sunny front porch, students are welcomed by a sense of comfort and belonging as this school is truly their ‘home away from home.’

K-12 School for Students with Learning Differences (LD) and a School Within a School.

The master plan calls for the construction of approximately 70,000 square feet of building space to serve families who have children with learning differences and includes a dedicated school wing for up to 75 Asperger’s and autism spectrum students. Often referred to as a school within a school, this synergetic arrangement allows the LD and Asperger’s/autism spectrum schools to share resources. The building plans include classrooms for lower-, middle-, and upper-school students, and features shared spaces including a dining hall, gymnasium, music room, art room, counselor offices, a central receptionist desk, and school administrative offices.

Aspire Trade High School

Aspire Trade High School is an innovative industry specific trade school serving grades 9-12. This school is the only charter model of its kind in North Carolina featuring “hands-on” labs. At this rigorous academic school students will have the ability to earn a diploma AND a trade certificate during their four years. Students will begin trade instruction in their freshman year and will be able to enter an apprenticeship with a local company during their senior year to gain additional experience. Students will have opportunities to explore career options in industry-specific trades like HVAC, plumbing, data science, carpentry, culinary, masonry/ceramic tile, welding/fabrication, medical assistant, medical coding and automotive. Students will have trade instructors that are experts in their industry and will use curriculum that would lead students towards NC trade certification or licensure if that is available in their chosen field.

We are excited to share this video about Aspire Trade High School filmed in partnership with Nudura.

The Big Picture:

For those children struggling in public schools or currently being homeschooled our new schools will provide an environment that is built specifically to meet their educational needs. These students will be able to thrive academically and socially because the teaching methodology, curriculum, and therapeutic services supports will all be customized to help them reach their true academic potential in their home community. By adding a High School trade/vocational school we will have additional options for all students including our unique learners. This multi-million-dollar endeavor will require the support of our community to develop the land, build facilities, and create the education village at Huntersville.

We Need Your Support

The education village at Huntersville will bring unique elements together to strengthen North Mecklenburg and the surrounding communities. By placing the first charter trade High School in North Carolina and schools for children with learning differences and autism/Asperger’s on the same campus we can maximize impact while being cost effective in sharing resources and physical space. To create this unique village of multiple schools for unserved and underserved students, as well as a much-needed vocational high school that offers competitive career options for all of our children, we need the support and financial resources of the North Mecklenburg community and surrounding region. With your support we can give every student a viable career path and every business and corporation a pipeline of skilled and prepared workers for the future. Together we can strengthen our communities and make a difference in the lives of our region’s children.
